For math, I taught about area and volume using a fan hands-on project in which students build a paper city. Students had to complete a “work permit” which was a couple of questions asking them to solve for the area and volume of a shape. Once they had done so they were allowed to create whatever kind of city they wished. In the end, we put together all of the pieces and had one big city. The students loved this and we ended up with a big class project that was fun to examine!
